Lekë is a rising senior at Duke University dual-majoring in Economics and Philosophy. In his academic career, he has studied abroad in Geneva, Switzerland via the Duke in Geneva program and spent a semester in Cairo, Egypt at the American University of Cairo. While DISCon has been Leke’s primary extracurricular activity, he is also involved with the Duke Colloquium Fellowship and participates in the other three branches of the Duke International Relations Association (DIRA). While his summer plans are still to be determined, Lekë is looking at potential activities to further his interest in public administration and institutional analysis after his prior internship with the Research and Policy sector of the United Nations Development Programme in Kosovo. He looks forward to the conference and studying the issue of cyber-security more extensively, as he believes it can play a fundamental shift in geopolitical relations. |

Director of External Affairs: Ray Li

Ray is a junior from Philadelphia double majoring in Political Science and Public Policy with a minior in Education. In addition to acting as Director General for this and last year’s DISCon, he is also involved with Duke Student Government, the American Grand Strategy Council, Duke Debate, the Duke Admissions Department, the Duke Football Emissaries, and teaching and tutoring in Durham Public Schools. He is also the co-founder and co-editor-in-chief of the Duke Political Review. He has spent the past two summers in Washington D.C. working in United States Senate as well as the Center for Study on the Presidency and Congress. He is interested in pursuing further studies in political science or education policy and hopes to live and work in the nation’s capital one day. He looks forward to running this conference behind the scenes and hope you all have the best delegate experience yet!

Deputy Director of External Affairs: Natasha Parekh
Natasha is a junior majoring in Public Policy and minoring in Chemistry. In addition to being involved with the Duke International Relations Association (DIRA), she tutors children at a local elementary school in Durham and is vice president of her House Council. This summer she is working in India with a local organization teaching children about health and foreign policy and hopes to one day work in the medical field. She looks forward to making this one of best DisCons yet.

Deputy Crisis Director: Caroline Steiblin

Caroline Steiblin is a sophomore from Switzerland and is pursuing a double major in Physics and Economics. In addition to being the Deputy Crisis Director for DISCon 2013, she is a member of the Duke International Relations away team, an Alice M. Baldwin Scholar, and a Duke International Ambassador. This summer, she is interning at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), where she will explore some of the decay modes of the Higgs boson. She looks forward to working with the crisis team in DISCon 2013.

Chief of Staff: Sofia Manfredi

Sofia is a junior majoring in Biology, but she maintains a healthy interest in foreign policy nonetheless. She has been an active member of the Duke International Relations Association (DIRA) since freshman year and has trouble imagining her college experience without it. Aside from her participation in DIRA, her extracurriculars include research at the Jane Goodall Institute and involvement in Greek life. This summer, Sofia will conduct research on chimpanzee group behavior as a Deans’ Summer Research Fellow, and she will also spend five weeks at the Duke Marine Laboratory. She looks forward to making this conference the strongest DISCon yet.
